Stand Tall - A Rock Musical, a contemporary rock/pop musical by Lee Wyatt-Buchan, Aldie Chalmers & Sandy Chalmers, is to open for a five-week season at the Landor Theatre from Wednesday October 12 - Saturday November 12.
The cast are: Ryan O’Donnell (he played the lead role of Jimmy Cooper in the UK premiere of Pete Townsend’s rock musical, Quadrophenia); Jack Shalloo (recently starred as Hamlet in Hamlet the Musical at the Royal & Derngate and Richmond theatres); Martin Pirongs (Talking in Bed, Theatre 503);Natasha J Barnes (West End musicals Spring Awakening and Lend Me a Tenor); Keisha Amponsa Banson (Urleen in the UK tour of Footloose).
New creatives have been added to the team, including Lighting Designer Gary Bowman and Designer Martin Thomas. Gary Bowman was recently nominated for the Best Lighting Designer 2011 Off West End Award for Gotcha at Riverside Studios. Gary is Deputy on Rock of Ages at the Shaftesbury Theatre Martin Thomas has just been nominated in the Off West End Awards as Best Set Designer for Ragtime at the Landor. He was previously nominated as Best Set Designer for Buried Child and The Drowsey Chaperone (both Upstairs at the Gatehouse), and Smokey Joe’s Cafe (Landor) in the Off West End Awards.
The production is directed by Simon Greiff. His previous directing credits include the premiere of “The Pork Crunch” (Pleasance), “Spring Awakening” (Wilde Theatre), the British premiere of “Striking 12” (Waterloo East), “Home: The Scott Alan Song Cycle” workshop (Her Majesty’s) which he also co-created. He was the resident director on the No1 tour of “We Will Rock You”. He is currently creating “Stories From The Lighthouse” with the award-winning British writer Laurence Mark Wythe, whose musical “Tomorrow Morning” was produced at the Landor in 2010.
