Brief History of Eastbury Manor;
Eastbury Manor House is an example of an Elizabethan building situated in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham in Greater London.
The House is in the ownership of the National Trust and is open to events so SpookSavers have hired this location out for an evening of ghost hunting.
After being the country house of gentry families for the earlier part of its history, by the 18th and 19th centuries Eastbury (sometimes known as Eastbury Hall) was inhabited by a succession of tenants such as yeoman farmers and butchers. Cattle were fattened here on the rich marshland pasture before selling them in the London markets.
The House gradually fell into decay and one of its two octagonal stair turrets was pulled down in the early 19th century, and one room was even used as a stable. Eastbury Manor was in danger of complete demolition until 1918 when it was purchased by the National Trust.
According to a local legend, the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 was first conceived at Eastbury.
Reported hauntings and paranormal activity at Eastbury Manor;
The building has a very errie feel as the lights go off and with doors being opened and closed when nobody is around that area, this all adds to the feel and tension of the building.
Visitors have captured orbs and when you look closely into the orbs eerie faces can be seen.
Flashes of light have also been experienced when groups of people have been sitting in the attic, was this a spirit trying to communicate?
A ghost of a young girl walking around the building has often been seen by young girls and women but for some reason, rarely seen by men, this has not yet been explained.
Come and join SpookSavers for an evening of ghost hunting that will not leave you disappointed!
