Impressive line-up of jazz performances, styles range from blues and soul to zydeco. Twice-a-day marching parade feature Funk Off, New Year’s Day Mass for Peace with gospel singers in the city’s magnificent cathedral. The festival takes places throughout the city and the concerts are held from noon till night.   Artists such as  Herbie Hancock, Alicia Keys, Gil Evans, Pat Metheny, Antonio Sanchez, Caetano Veloso, Chaka Kahn, Cassandra Wilson, R.E.M  and many others have previously played at Umbria Jazz Winter.   The programme also includes one day in Rome, the capital city of Italy.
